Merger with Life Redesigned and a new partner on board expands capacity to support businesses

Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, 30 March, 2021 Perspective Strategies, a leading strategic communications and issues management consultancy, announced the merger of its learning and development brand, Communications Leadership Academy (CLA) with Life Redesigned (LR), a training and organisational development company, as part of its overall strategy to grow its learning and development services into the areas of leadership, communications and organisational development.

Established in 2006, Perspective Strategies is a full-fledged strategic communications and issue management firm with services in public affairs, brand communications and stakeholder engagement. The firm’s expertise is built on years of experience of working in a comprehensive range of industries and businesses. It is part of the Public Relations Global Network (PRGN), one of the world’s leading independent network of PR and Communications agencies. CLA was established in 2020 in response to the changing marketplace due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It was a difficult year all around in 2020 and many companies have had to pivot rapidly to survive. The shifting market landscape has led to skills gaps being exposed in many industries, including in the areas of internal and external communications, leadership, workplace culture and others. We see this disruption as an opportunity for our reinvention and growth,” said Andy See, Founder and Managing Director of Perspective Strategies Sdn Bhd.

“CLA is in an advantageous position now as the brand is able to seamlessly integrate with Perspective Strategies’ base expertise of strategic communications into the organisational development space, with leadership, communication and digital skills development at the forefront. Moving forward, it will be especially important for brands to communicate a purpose-driven journey, especially on topics such as sustainability, diversity, equity and inclusion. As such, CLA is expanding our capacity to meet these needs by bringing new experience and team members on board while expanding our suite of services,” he added.

Life Redesigned is founded by Cheah Kar Fei, an in-demand corporate trainer, leadership coach and international speaker, having spoken at TEDx events and global conferences in more than 15 countries. In addition, he is also an official member of the Forbes Coaches Council, an invitation-only membership for global business coaches, as well as the Global Shapers Community by the World Economic Forum to contribute towards community development across the world. The merger with Life Redesigned will see Cheah assume the role of Managing Partner.

“Life Redesigned was founded to equip young people in the global workforce with new skills needed to thrive in the future of work. CLA and LR are a great fit as we share many common values, particularly our vision to empower people and companies with the leadership, communications, and core skills needed to thrive in a highly challenging market. We foresee that this need will only increase moving forward and implicate other areas such as organisational culture, employee engagement and organisational well-being, leadership development and more. Our goal is to enable companies to thrive internally and externally so that they can build a strong and resilient organisation,” said Cheah.

To strengthen the team further, CLA has brought Lai Chee Seng on board as a partner. Chee Seng has over 20 years’ experience in the field of communications, which includes PR, digital, and advertising & marketing. Throughout his career, he has helped MNCs, C-Suites and senior government leaders develop thought leadership content for local and international contexts. His own thought leadership articles have been published in various publications. He has also been invited to share his expertise at Monash University, INTI University College and Nagaoka University Review, Japan.

“I am confident that CLA will make a significant splash in the learning and development space for corporates. The rapid shift to digital and the entry of Gen Z and Gen Alpha into the marketplace has created great challenges in communication and engagement. This is a blue ocean opportunity as the pandemic has disrupted the business landscape and many people, brands and companies are finding their feet. CLA is in a great position to fill the growing need for strong people-centred leadership and communications, both internally as well as in market-facing contexts,” said Lai.

No doubt, the Covid-19 pandemic has impacted each and every one of us in one way or another. We are faced with a new reality, including a changed economic and business landscape. The road ahead, in the coming weeks and months, will be very bumpy as we embrace the unprecedented challenges in our professional and even personal lives.

Whilst it is easy to remain in “fire-fighting” mode, the focus of our leadership should be firmly on how we can RECOVER our business and pave the way for us to REINVENT ourselves. This is a critical moment for us. We have to seize the opportunities right now or we will be swept away by the changes that have been accelerated by this crisis.

In this regard, we at Perspective Strategies have not rested on our laurels during this difficult period. While we continue to engage our team and clients, we are also stepping up our game. We have two new big initiatives – one in consulting and another in training and coaching. We hope, we will be given the opportunity to engage with you on these areas in the coming weeks.

In the area of our consulting work, we are establishing a special practice focused on Recovery and Reinvention. This multi-discipline practice will marry our strength in communication with specific technical expertise in areas we strongly believe are essential in future-proofing our organisation and thus helping us in the recovery and reinvention of our business.

We are pleased to highlight that Associate Professor Dr. Chang Li-Yen from the Department of Medical Microbiology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya will join our Recovery and Reinvention Practice as Consultant and Expert Advisor on Health and Safety. She will be providing expert input and consultancy to organisations seeking to prepare their organisations for biosafety and biosecurity issues, which have now impacted almost every single sector or business, including identifying and addressing gaps to strengthen health and safety strategies.

Li-Yen has extensive knowledge and experience working with highly virulent pathogen in high biocontainment facilities. Over the years, Li-Yen has won numerous awards and recognition for her scientific work including the prestigious Merdeka Award. She was in the Nipah Virus Encephalitis Investigation Team, which won the inaugural Merdeka Award back in 2008.

In the area of Training and Coaching, we are pleased to unveil to you our newest venture, the Communications Leadership Academy. I am pleased to introduce to you, Cheah Kar Fei, who will be heading this Academy as its Managing Partner. Kar Fei is the Founder and Performance Coach of Life Redesigned, a coaching team that aims to develop young people in the global workforce. With his vast experience in coaching and public speaking, Kar Fei is also an official member of the Forbes Coaches Council and a TEDx speaker. He has coached clients and spoken at conferences in more than 15 countries around the world.

Kar Fei and our new team at the Communications Leadership Academy will focus on efforts to train and coach corporate executives including communication professionals to embrace the new reality – a new marketplace that demands a more agile workforce, a work culture that promotes empowerment as well as teams that are familiar to work remotely and deploy the various digital tools in the market. We will be building a team of coaches and facilitators, who are experts in areas such as biosecurity, organisational development, digital transformation, finance and human psychology.

For both consulting and training and coaching practices, our focus to help businesses recover and reinvent will cover four core areas:

In the coming weeks, we will be launching a thought leadership series (including articles, infographics, workshops and webinars) to help businesses RECOVER and REINVENT themselves. Our topics will showcase the diversity of subjects which we think will be key to put us on the right path to rebuild, reimagine and reform our business structure and processes as well as the people within our organisations.

Indeed, crisis moments like this is the true test of our organisation’s resilience or our brand’s leadership. In fact, this is the time for us to build trust and engage in meaningful relationships with our stakeholders. This calls for us to showcase our leadership and to step up our communication to stakeholders, including employees, customers, investors, regulators and business partners. After all, communication by the leadership is even more important in times of crisis in order to engage stakeholders meaningfully.

However, no matter how bad the situation is, like all storms it will pass. Yes, this storm is like no other storm we’ve ever faced before. It may feel like a tsunami right now. However, the sun will shine again and that will be our Moment of Truth. There is no better time than right now, for us to start our business recovery and reinvention initiatives.

My team and I will be updating you about these initiatives from time to time but do feel free write to me personally at andy.see@perspective.com.my if you are interested to know more about our big, new ideas.

Thank you.

Carpe Diem!

Puerto Varas, Chile (November 21, 2019) – Malaysian public relations consultancy, Perspective Strategies, took home two trophies at the Public Relations Global Network (PRGN) Global Best Practice Awards recently, winning the 1st and 2nd place in the Blogger/Vlogger Outreach and Consumer Communications - Products categories respectively.

Winning first place in the Blogger/Vlogger Outreach category, the firm’s campaign for Nippon Paint Malaysia was anchored on partnerships with digital influencers to reach out to a new segment of consumers. By generating conversations on non-traditional platforms, the campaign aimed to shift the mindset that home makeovers are only meant to be carried out by professionals. This culminated in the “Sayangi Malaysiaku” Workshop and “Riang Ria Warna Raya” Workshop which were intended to equip consumers with the skills and knowledge for DIY makeovers, in time for the Malaysian festive seasons.

The firm’s partnership with Central Sugars Refinery to launch their flagship ‘Better Brown Low G Sugar’ product took home second place in the Consumer Communications – Products category. The campaign focused on stakeholder engagements and partnerships, notably with the National Diabetes Institute, Malaysia to educate consumers on the need to consume sugar responsibly. This involved a series of on-ground events as well as communications across multiple platforms to promote healthy lifestyles and Better Brown Low G Sugar as a healthier sugar option.

“We are greatly honoured to have won an international award for the second year running. This is truly a testament to the team’s expertise in meeting world-class standards. Moreover, our win in the Blogger and Consumer Communications categories reflects our commitment to do more digital and consumer work and move beyond traditional areas of focus,” said Andy See, Principal Partner and Managing Director of Perspective Strategies.

The Award is held annually as part of the global PR network’s effort to recognize and celebrate the best of its partner agencies’ work throughout the world. This year, the awards took place in Chile, South America during the network’s global meeting.

PRGN is one of the largest network of independent agencies in the world, present in over 50 market centres in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, South America and North America.

The next PRGN Best Practice Awareds will be in Singapore, in October 2020.
